WTF - What the.. Fridays | Extra People in the Delivery Room

When I asked my followers to provide me with a list of things that no one told them about regarding pregnancy and/or delivery I was surprised to find a number of lists contained the following: "I didn't expect so many people to be in the delivery room when I was pushing/giving birth"

This one will vary greatly depending on the facility you are having your child in, also given the current pandemic situation this may also affect the numbers) but I know here in #yxe (pre-pandemic) there is the possibility of having doctors who are training to be in the room observing while you are pushing and during the delivery of your baby. You always have the option to decline any extra personnel if you so choose. For most deliveries there will be a doctor and 1-2 nurses. If you are high risk, having multiple babies, baby or mom is in distress or the neonatal team has to be called in because of meconium staining there could be upwards of 6 hospital personnel in the room at once.

They all have a specific job to do and play an integral role in ensuring your delivery goes as smoothly and safely as possible.

It may be tough, but focus on the end game, getting your baby out. Try not to worry about the other people in the room, this is their job, they have seen it ALL, they are there for you and your baby.

Christina made our experience with our first born son so much easier and less stressful. She thoroughly and expertly answered our questions leading up to and during labor, lessening our worries tremendously.

We would highly recommend Christina to anyone looking for an educated, kind and caring person to support them through their journey.
